Quarter of a million pounds in compensation after psychiatric injury
Potter Rees Dolan helped Dave claim £250,000 after he fell approximately 30 feet whilst at work.
Dave was 54 when he fell through a faulty part of a scaffolding platform whilst at work during the course of an inspection.
Dave sustained very serious injuries including a blow to the head resulting in a mild head injury, fractures to a number of vertebrae in the lower back as well as number of other fractures.
Due to the accident, Dave also suffered a psychiatric injury in the form of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and depression.
Dave also suffered from chronic pain disorder in his lower leg which has prevented him from many activities and he has been unable to return to work since the accident.
Potter Rees Dolan won the case on behalf of the Claimant with a gross settlement figure of £250,000.
Jeanne Evans acted on behalf of Dave and commented:
Dave’s accident not only resulted in physical injuries but also invisible, yet equally challenging, psychological symptoms. His accident prevented him continuing in a job which he enjoyed and took away his ability to provide for his family which was so important to him. It was equally important to access the right psychological therapy for Dave at an early a stage as possible, before settlement, to help him rebuild his confidence and self esteem as it was to achieve a financial settlement which, as far as is ever possible, compensated him for his losses. The settlement achieved has given Dave back choices about his future and that of his family.
