What is post-concussional syndrome?
Post-concussion syndrome is a traumatic brain injury, often termed ‘mild’, that typically occurs following a blow to the head, or the violent shaking of a body. This injury commonly occurs during fights, falls, sporting activities, car accidents and falls, and can severely affect your quality of life.
Although it is often a symptom, suffering from concussion does not necessarily mean a loss of consciousness. If you have suffered from any the following symptoms after a hit to the head, it could be you are suffering from concussion.
- Headaches
- Confusion
- Dizziness
- Hearing problems
- Loss of memory
- Anxiety
- Epilepsy
- Impairment of judgment
- Lack of concentration
- Loss of balance and coordination
Behavioural changes
If you are experiencing short-term concussion, these symptoms are likely to last for a few days after the injury. However, if you have experienced these symptoms for a number of months or years after the incident, it is likely you are suffering from post-concussion syndrome.

Making a claim for post-concussion syndrome or a mild traumatic brain injury can be complex, as it is not well understood by medical professionals. This is because it is sometimes difficult to diagnose the condition based on the symptoms present and identifying the consequent brain injury. Because of this, it is crucial you seek the help of a specialist team of legal professionals in order to ensure you are tested, diagnosed and compensated accurately and fairly.
