Jeremy Smith

Jeremy is a Senior Associate within the Personal Injury team here at Potter Rees Dolan Serious Injury Solicitors.

Education & career

Jeremy originally studied Chemistry at St Catherine's College, Oxford, before going on to complete the Common Professional Examination (with Commendation) in 1988 and the Law Society Finals in 1989. He qualified as a solicitor in 1991.

Jeremy joined Hugh Potter & Company (as the firm was then known) in 2000. He spent two years using his acquired knowledge in presenting Continuing Professional Development courses for lawyers before returning to Potter Rees in 2006 to concentrate on acting for clients with catastrophic injuries. Jeremy has a unique position within the firm - his role comprises drafting pleadings, Schedules of Loss, applications for review or appeal in Criminal Injury cases, researching and advising on particular points of law or proceedure, as well as advising on cases with a foreign element. He says:

"I enjoy being able to make a contribution to the lives of severely injured people by using my skills to help them obtain the level of compensation they deserve. I also really appreciate working with so many talented and friendly colleagues, whose energy and enthusiasm is infectious."

Outside of work...

Jeremy says:

"I am a keen runner and as a member of Chorlton Runners I particularly enjoy training with my clubmates. My proudest achievement is that I have twice qualified to represent the England Athletics Masters Marathon Team for older age group runners, first as a 60 year old and recently as a 65 year old."

Jeremy also enjoys learning languages for foreign holidays and can speak some French - although he admits this is rather rusty now!
