A studio dedicated to artwork created by brain injury survivors has launched as part of Headway East London.
Submit to Love Studios is the base where members of the charity use the creative hub as a way to keep their minds working and express themselves.
Brain injury has awakened some of the artists who had no real interest in art until they took part at the studio to produce their work.
Rather than providing someone with short term rehabilitation after a brain injury, Headway groups aim to offer long term support to give them a productive use of their time.
Hannah Bottomley, clinical negligence solicitor at PotterReesDolan, said:
How wonderful to read about Headway East London’s upcoming art exhibition and the fact that this has been picked up and recognised by the BBC.
Headway are a remarkable charity supporting people with brain injury right across the country. Here at PotterReesDolan, we have a number of Headway volunteers and I’m sure the fantastic idea of an art exhibition will inspire Headway members across the country.
Many of the members at this group see producing art as their job; not only are they using art as a form of therapy but are also producing work to sell to people.
Since the idea first began, organisers have seen the prices for the paintings and sculptures increase with half the money going to the charity and half to the artist themselves.
The art will be available for visitors in the area to view and purchase until 23rd February at Stratford Circus Arts Centre.
