Today is World Physical Activity Day and what better way to celebrate than finding ways to #GetMoving.
As part of Limb Loss Awareness Month, multiple amputation charities have joined forces to make April 2017 the very first awareness month like this in the UK.
The #GetMoving campaign aims to raise awareness of those who have lost a limb and how to encourage them to build their independence by getting active.
Richard Edwards, senior personal injury solicitor at PotterReesDolan, said:
This is a great idea to promote awareness of amputees, the difficulties they face and the importance of keeping active. Following amputation it can be very hard for amputees to build up the strength and motivation to exercise but the benefits of doing so are huge. I’m very happy to pledge my support for such a great cause!
We all know the physical benefits of being active as well as the mental health benefits too. But the introduction of Limb Loss Awareness Month highlights the difficulty many amputees face when trying to keep active.
The campaign intends to advise people with general tips to #GetMoving in the home or in the office rather than playing sports.
Richard is Group Secretary of ACSIL the Amputation Charity and has dealt with many clients who have had a limb amputated.
