The father of a young teenager who died after a crash while riding his bike pleads for other parents to keep their children safe on the roads.
Tyler Wolstenholme, aged 13, sadly died when his bike collided with a car at a junction before school last week.
He suffered serious head injuries in the crash and died in hospital later the same day and it is believed he wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Tyler's family hope to highlight the importance of wearing a helmet but, more importantly, about road safety in general.
Hugh Potter, Senior Partner and head of personal injury at Potter Rees Dolan, said:
How desperately sad. My sons cycle but even so I can’t begin to imagine how hard this must be for Tyler’s parents. The Manchester Evening News needs to be careful about lauding cycle helmets though: they are good for low force impacts like falling off but don’t offer much protection for anything more. Road collisions need to be avoided in the first place which means all road users taking care and being considerate
