Millions of pounds in funding to fill UK potholes in road

With an aim to improve the condition of the UK's roads, the government has confirmed it will provide £50 million this financial year.

One hundred councils will be given the money to repair around 943,000 potholes as part of the £250m 'Pothole Action Fund' included in last month's Budget.

A survey found an estimated 13% of the roads in England are in a poor structural condition.

At the beginning of this year, the RAC revealed it was called out to over 25,000 pothole-related breakdowns in 2015.

The number of people injured due to potholes, however, is the main issue for concern at PotterReesDolan.

Hugh Potter, Partner at PotterReesDolan and who was himself injured due to a pothole, said:

It sounds a lot of money but to put it into perspective, just one severely brain injured cyclist client of ours might easily receive £10 million. This is not enough!
