Here at PotterReesDolan we were saddened to read of the tragic story of Lee Wyatt who passed away from bowel cancer in 2010 after being misdiagnosed for six months despite going to his GP and local hospital multiple times.

A cancer diagnoses is often such a traumatic and worrying event for anyone to go through but the belief that the diagnoses could have come sooner and meant a different outcome is even more difficult to come to terms with.

At PotterReesDolan we have dealt with misdiagnoses and delay in diagnosis of cancer cases in the tragic circumstances where the patient has passed away and have found that more often than not family members want answers as to why the diagnosis was missed in the first place.

As has been demonstrated in Lee Wyatt’s case, no amount of compensation can make up for the loss of a loved one but having the answers about what went wrong and receiving an apology we have found helps families come to terms with such tragic events.

We hope that a full letter of apology from Jeremy Hunt may be considered in other cases but will continue to seek apologies from local medical professionals on behalf of our clients.
