Hundreds of thousands of pounds will be spent by the NHS on new running blades for child amputees.
The Government has also pledged another £750,000 on prosthetic research following on from the Rio Paralympics which came to a close yesterday.
Over £1 million will be split between bringing the latest child prosthetic technology to the NHS, enabling more children access to sporting prosthetics and tailoring limbs to meet their sporting needs.
Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has said the amount of medals achieved by Team GB in the Paralympics has surpassed expectations.
It is hoped accessibility to these sporting prosthetics will enable children to make their own Paralympic dreams a reality in years to come.
Hannah Bottomley, clinical negligence solicitor at PotterReesDolan, said:
Any step which can be taken to improve the quality of life of children who have been left with amputations can only be a good thing and I hope that increased access to suitable prosthetics of all types does just that
