We are delighted to announce that our very own Suzanne Sutcliffe - Social Welfare Advisor here at Potter Rees Dolan - has been named as Reuben's Retreat's 'Volunteer of the Month' for March, which is a testament to Suzanne's dedication and hardwork.
Founded in 2012, Reuben's Retreat is a home-from-home for families bereaved of a child and for children with life limiting or threatening conditions and their parents and siblings. The charity was set up following the passing of passing of little Reuben Graham, who tragically died aged just 23 months after suffering an atypical terratoid rhabdoid tumour - a very rare and aggressive form of Cancerous tumour. Reuben's Retreat's mission is to relieve the distress of families who have suffered the bereavement of a child or have a child suffering from a life limiting/threatening illness, while their vision is "walking side-by-side, offering emotional and practical support to families bereaved of a child or those that have a life limited/threatened child and may face an uncertain future. Enabling them to create memories cocooned in the sanctuary of Reuben’s Retreat underpinned by our army of love and compassionate hearts". The charity said of Suzanne:
"Every month we celebrate one of our amazing volunteers thanks to the generosity of our friends at Progressive Travel Recruitment who sponsor our Volunteer of the Month.
Our volunteer of the month for March is Suzanne, our Social Welfare Advisor - whose skill set has been so very kindly gifted to us at Reuben's Retreat.
After receiving feedback from our families, we understood that the social security system can often be time-consuming, difficult to navigate and not user-friendly. We met with the wonderful Potter Rees Dolan solicitors in Manchester, who introduced us to their Social Welfare Advisor, Suzanne.
Potter Rees Dolan allow Suzanne to gift her time to Reuben's Retreat each week, meeting with our beneficiary families to patiently listen and understand their family circumstances. Suzanne then uses her years of knowledge and expertise to provide our families with support and guidance, ensuring that they are receiving everything they should be in order to support their family.
Suzanne is a kind, patient and trustworthy friend of Reuben's Retreat, who treats all of our beneficiary families with compassion and integrity. Suzanne has made a huge difference to the lives of our families and is a brilliant addition to our army of love and compassionate hearts.
Thank you Potter Rees Dolan for your continued support of Reuben's journey; we are so grateful."
Suzanne comments:
I am absolutely delighted to be Reuben’s Retreat’s Volunteer of the Month. Reuben’s really is an amazing organisation with an incredible and awe inspiring team. It means an enormous amount to me be able to assist Reuben’s families and I feel honoured to have met with so many wonderful people since the Wellcare Service began last September. A huge thank you for everybody’s kind words which really do mean the world.
