Singing from the same song sheet: Resolving conflicts inherent in pre-litigated brain injury rehabilitation

On behalf of Potter Rees Dolan Serious Injury Solicitors and AKA Case Management, we would like to thank everyone who attended our recent training seminar, ‘Singing from the same song sheet: Resolving the conflicts inherent in pre-litigated brain injury rehabilitation’.

There was a fantastic turn out on the day, with around 100 delegates in attendance - to say the room was buzzing was an understatement!

The aim of the seminar was to examine in detail the various conflicts that can, and inevitably do, arise between the litigation, financial considerations and rehabilitation/therapy needs when working with challenging clients and their families, and to explore whether the professional parties are really on the same side. Is there a way to stop such conflicts arising? Or are the conflicts themselves an essential part of our roles in delivering rehabilitation to our shared clients?

On the day we heard some insightful talks from a selection of speakers, including our own Gary Herbert – Partner and Personal Injury solicitor – who tackled ‘why solicitors are such a problem’, and Ruth Wright – Partner and Head of Court of Protection here at Potter Rees Dolan – who explored ‘how deputies can be a help rather than a hindrance in rehabilitation’.

Looking at the therapy and rehabilitation side of the coin, delegates heard from two experts from AKA Case Management, Andrew Rose – Operations Manager, and Gillian Gorry – a Clinical Case Manager. Andrew and Gill gave some brilliant examples of ‘how to rehabilitate clients under the microscope of litigation’.

The seminar concluded with an open Q&A session, followed by a networking lunch, which gave our delegates and speakers a chance to ask further questions, but to also explore potential solutions for the issues and conflicts mentioned in each talk.

Overall, the day was a success and we have had plenty of positive feedback from those who attended. Once again, we’d like to thank you all and we now look forward to our next event! Watch this space….
