A new smartphone app has been developed to help people with brain injuries.
The web-based software, Brain in Hand, helps create a daily routine and structure to tasks they may face.
Originally designed for people with autism, the app has now expanded to help the over one million people living with a brain injury in the UK.
The app includes a diary, pre-planned coping strategies and even a red button to contact emergency services.
In a bid to help people with brain injuries have more independence, Brain in Hand also helps people to manage their moods.
Jeanne Evans, Senior Solicitor at PotterReesDolan, said:
A good example here of technology assisting, and indeed enabling, those with a brain injury to a more independent life. As it is NHS funded it will hopefully be available to all who would benefit irrespective of ability to pay.
I have seen in my own work the benefit of aids to memory, supporting planning and daily routines which are essential to maintain an independent life.
As an acquired brain injury (ABI) can cover a wide range of conditions such as a stroke or even a traumatic brain injury, the symptoms can include cognitive problems, behavioural and emotional struggles.
These symptoms can limit independence in someone with a brain injury and restrict their participation in society which is what the app aims to combat.
