Rugby player who suffered catastrophic injury during a scrum speaks out about his experience ten years since the accident.

Matt Hampson suffered a spinal cord injury when the scrum collapsed on top of him during a rugby match.

Mr Hampson dislocated his neck which severed his spinal cord leaving him paralysed and a tetraplegic, dependant on a ventilator.

However, he remains positive and has opened a new centre to inspire children and their families to fight after suffering a catastrophic injury like his own.

Hugh Potter, Partner at PotterReesDolan, said:

Just like so many of the accounts of our own clients following terrible injuries, that of Mr Hampson (who isn’t our client) is simply inspirational and humbling. Best wishes to him.

Here at PotterReesDolan, we have commented in the past on the dangers of rugby and how the rules could be set to change.
