What You Need to Know About Baby Loss Awareness Week

Every year, thousands of families in the UK are affected by the death of a baby during pregnancy, at birth or in infancy. Potter Rees Dolan supports the annual Baby Loss Awareness Week (BLAW), which helps to raise awareness of the common causes of infant mortality and offer support to those who have experienced this tragedy.

The week takes place between 9th to 15th October each year and provides parents, their families and friends with an opportunity to acknowledge and remember their precious babies who sadly died. Over 60 charities across the UK also come together to commemorate the lives of babies and provide resources for struggling families.

BLAW calls for tangible improvements to be made in research, care and policy around bereavement support while highlighting the services that are currently available for anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby.

Each day across the week, a different topic is explored to encourage people to speak up, share their experience of loss, talk about how they’ve coped and what strategies did (and didn’t) help. To find out this year’s topics for Baby Loss Awareness Week, visit the organisation’s website

Baby Loss and Clinical Negligence

Unfortunately, we at Potter Rees Dolan often see clients who have suffered the loss of a baby due to clinical negligence. When this happens, not only do the family have to come to terms with a devastating loss, but also with the prospect that it was entirely preventable.

If you or a loved one have lost a baby as a result of clinical negligence, we are here to listen and help you get the support you need by making a claim for compensation. To speak to a solicitor, call us on 0800 027 2557, or fill in the form on this page to request a call back.
