A young woman has died after suffering a head injury whilst playing rugby for her local team.
Lily Partridge had a history of concussion and collapsed by the side of the pitch after being injured on Sunday.
After being taken to hospital, the 23-year-old's life support machine was switched off on Monday evening.
Here at PotterReesDolan we have commented on the importance of taking concussion seriously.
And the sport of rugby has had much media focus lately and incidents like this can only support any arguments that changes need to be made.
Helen Shaw, Senior Litigation Manager at PotterReesDolan, said:
My thoughts are with Lily’s family. The report sadly highlights the importance of seeking specialist advice and/or scans following a traumatic head injury, particularly where there is a history of concussions.
Investigations into the circumstances of the injury which led to Ms Partidge's death are under way by the RFU.
